The Arkville-based Community Pantry has seen a sharp increase in activity since the coronavirus pandemic has started and the organization has already made nearly 90 home deliveries to those in need.
The Community Pantry, which primarily serves residents in the Town of Middletown, has recently launched a website:
community-pantry.org
so that individuals in need of assistance can fill out an online form to register to receive deliveries. Signups can also be performed over the phone at 845 586-2233. There are no income guidelines for participation.
Change in operation
The Community Pantry is located at:
42838 State Route 28, Arkville.
The pantry has previously been open to the public on Monday and Friday evenings, with volunteers performing a limited number of deliveries. However, as a means of enforcing social distancing guidelines due to the pandemic, all meals are now being delivered.
Food items most commonly provided by the pantry include soups, cereals, instant potatoes, butter, milk, eggs, dessert items, chicken, beef, and fish. There are also limited amounts of cooking oil, paper products and other household staples.
There are ample duties for volunteers with the increasing need for services from the pantry. Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to call:
845 586-2233
or sign up online.
