Delaware County received two new positive test result today.
We are also reporting a fourth death of an individual that had been hospitalized.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends impacted by this tragic loss.
The continued increase in cases is evidence that the disease is in the community and it is widespread. This makes it imperative that we continue social distancing.
The disease can be spread even if you are not showing symptoms so all protective measures are needed to keep the number of positive cases limited.
The Governor’s mandate to wear face coverings while in pubic if you cannot keep a safe distance took effect today. Please abide by this directive and keep your distance from others. We are all working hard to keep all residents safe and flatten the curve.
As of today there are 61 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 reported to Delaware County. There are an additional 72 people under mandatory quarantine and 1 person under precautionary quarantine. To date 490 people have been tested. Of those we are still waiting for results from 20 tests and we have received 407 negative test results. Eight (8) confirmed cases have been transferred out of the county. Of the 53 confirmed positive cases still in Delaware County 4 are isolated and receiving medical care in a hospital, 26 are isolated and recovering safely at their homes, 4 people are deceased and 19 have fully recovered and are no longer in isolation.

The pie chart illustrates the amount of testing and the results reported.
The second chart shows the totals positive cases, number of recovered and deceased. This shows the number of positive cases continues to increase at a faster rate than the recoveries.
It is important we continue to stay home, keep 6 feet apart when we have to go out and continue to be extra vigilant in sanitizing our homes, keep washing your hands and avoid touching your face.
We are continuing to stress the importance of social distancing measures to protect the general public.
Given the anxiety, loneliness and sadness that many of us may be feeling, New York State has made assistance available to all New York residents who could benefit from mental health support. The NYS COVID-19 Emotional Support Helpline at 844-863-9314 is staffed 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., 7 days a week. The phone line is staffed with specially trained volunteer professionals who are there to listen, support and refer if needed.
