Having settled into this necessary quarantine I would like to once again remind you to look after your elderly and more needy neighbors, we should not forget them. Don’t hoard goods that others also need, we’re in this together, and when this is over we will have to live together, we don’t want bad memories. Be civil towards each other. May I also remind you that we live in a most beautiful area, enjoy the forest, breath the fresh air, contemplate the beautiful things in life. Make the best of the worst.
Fleischmanns COVID-19 Updates:
New procedures are in effect beginning March 25, 2020 for Water Meter Readings, Installs and Curb turn-ons for the protection of you, your families and our Water Dept personnel and their families. Water Meter readings are being conducted this week. Most meters can be read remotely but Cedarwood personnel will not enter residences where a remote is not installed. If your meter does not have a remote installed or it is broken contact the Water Dept with your reading. If you want a Meter installed you will need to contract with a qualified plumber to make the connections and coordinate with the Water Dept for curb turn-ons. Attached are the new Fleischmanns Water Service Change Request procedures. A current phone number and email is required to process the request.
Governor Cuomo is urging all New Yorkers to stay home as much as possible. For the safety of all visitors and to stop the spread of COVID-19, the Fleischmanns Village Park playground and sporting field are CLOSED. Please limit outdoor recreational activities to non-contact, and avoid activities where you may come in close contact with other people. We appreciate your support and patience as we navigate this public health crisis together.
May 24, 2020 Memorial Day Street Fair has been cancelled. Options are being reviewed for a community celebration in late summer.
The Governor’s 10-point NYS on PAUSE plan is as follows:

- Effective at 8PM on Sunday, March 22, all non-essential businesses statewide will be closed;
- Non-essential gatherings of individuals of any size for any reason (e.g. parties, celebrations or other social events) are canceled or postponed at this time;
- Any concentration of individuals outside their home must be limited to workers providing essential services and social distancing should be practiced;
- When in public individuals must practice social distancing of at least six feet from others;
- Businesses and entities that provide other essential services must implement rules that help facilitate social distancing of at least six feet;
- Individuals should limit outdoor recreational activities to non-contact and avoid activities where they come in close contact with other people;
- Individuals should limit use of public transportation to when absolutely necessary and should limit potential exposure by spacing out at least six feet from other riders;
- Sick individuals should not leave their home unless to receive medical care and only after a telehealth visit to determine if leaving the home is in the best interest of their health;
- Young people should also practice social distancing and avoid contact with vulnerable populations; and
- Use precautionary sanitizer practices such as using isopropyl alcohol wipes.
“Matilda’s Law” includes the following rules for vulnerable populations:
- Remain indoors;
- Can go outside for solitary exercise;
- Pre-screen all visitors and aides by taking their temperature and seeing if person is exhibiting other flu-like symptoms;
- Do not visit households with multiple people;
- Wear a mask when in the company of others;
- To the greatest extent possible, everyone in the presence of vulnerable people should wear a mask;
- Always stay at least six feet away from individuals; and
- Do not take public transportation unless urgent and absolutely necessary.
