Delaware County Sheriff’s Office
Craig S. DuMond, Sheriff
PRESS RELEASE
March 16, 2020
Delhi, NY – Sheriff Craig DuMond issued the following public safety advisory today to ensure the continuation of uninterrupted law enforcement services and help ensure the safety of law enforcement and other first responders throughout their response to the COVID-19 emergency.
Sheriff DuMond advises that if you are experiencing an emergency, as always, call 911. When placing an emergency call, please advise dispatchers if you or any members of your household are experiencing flu-like symptoms. This information will ensure first responders can prepare to prevent the spread of any illnesses.
Sheriff DuMond stresses that the continuity of public safety services will remain a mission priority throughout this emergency. For this reason, and in an effort to limit any potential exposure that could lead to the future quarantine of law enforcement members, Sheriff DuMond is asking for the public’s understanding and cooperation if responding law enforcement officers request to speak over the phone or meet you outside your residence to speak to you about your complaint.
“If we use sound precautions and good old common sense, we will continue to deliver the unimpeded service the public expects from the Sheriff’s Office. As a team, we will get through this together and be stronger because of it”, the Sheriff remarked.
